Reinstating Coverage

Reinstatement is NOT required for Fall enrollment, as all students reset at the beginning of the academic year. Reinstatement only applies to Spring and Summer terms. 

  • If you opted out of UIUC Student Health Insurance during the current academic year and would like to re-enroll, you must complete the Reinstatement Form, as long as you are currently registered for the term.
  • The reinstatement form is available during each term's Enrollment/Waiver period.

Lost Other Insurance Coverage? 

If you have lost other health insurance outside of the enrollment/waiver period and you are registered for an on-campus degree seeking program, please contact our office. 

Please note: 

  • Coverage will begin the day our office receives all required materials, and will NOT backdate to the start of the term. 
    • You will need to provide our office with the termination letter. You can receive this by contacting the insurance carrier, or the HR department if was provided by an employer. 
  • The insurance fee is not prorated, regardless of when coverage begins.
